Client satisfaction survey

Early in 2021, I decided that I would like to get feedback from the clients I've worked with from the past 3-4 years in order to help me improve my services. So I created a Typeform online survey to capture their experiences when working with me.

At this point, I have sent surveys to around 300 clients, both current and past. I have about 300 more to send out in the next couple of months. I have received 55 surveys (36 rating my individual work and 19 rating my couples work) for an 18 percent return rate.

The survey questions and results are below. The first group of seven questions ask about my individual therapy and the next set of nine questions ask about my couples therapy. I have summarised the results of the 1-10 scale of responses, where 10 is the best and 1 is the worst for each question.

First off, can I get your evaluation of my individual therapy services? (66% of respondents, N=36)

1. How prepared was I for our sessions?

73% in the 8-10 range (10 being "very prepared")

2. To what extent did I understand your concerns and issues?

89% in the 8-10 range (10 being "completely")

3. To what extent did I give you what you needed to manage or improve your condition or situation?

94% in the 7-10 range (10 being "to a large extent")

4. How would you rate the quality of our therapeutic relationship?

86% in the 8-10 range (10 being "strong connection")

5. How was my communication with you outside of sessions, for example, being responsive in a timely way to emails, texts and phone calls?

86% in the 8-10 range (10 being "excellent")

6. How easy was it for you to schedule appointments with me, including finding times that work for you and using my online calendar?

78% in the 8-10 range (10 being "very easy")

7. The resources I provided for you were timely, of a high quality and helpful, including book recommendations, worksheets, websites, assessments, etc...

72% in the 8-10 range (10 being "strongly agree")

Questions for both individual and couples therapy

1. After the Covid19 situation has subsided and I deem it safe to see clients in my office again, will you prefer or need (due to distance) to continue having Zoom sessions or come to my office for in-person sessions?

70% in-person

30% via Zoom

2. What are a few things that you really liked (or like) about working with me? (Or other comments about the questions above.) 42 things liked about me (only 27 of which are included here)

Sorry if my answers were pretty generic. The truth is that, although the relationship between ... and me has not gone back to its original love/sex, we are now very much on the same side, able to communicate better and to face my family together. There might still be some deeper work to do, at some point, but at least on the surface we don't fight and we work well together. So let me take this chance to thank you again for the help your work has given to us, and wish you all the best.

3. And finally, do you have any suggestions about ways which I could improve my therapy services? (Or other comments about the questions above.) 15 suggestions for improvement

I would have liked to have more techniques for dealing with death, although I dont know if there are any, because it's a tough problem with no solution (other that acceptance). Techniques you gave me for couple's therapy were very useful and I still use them to this day with my boyfriend (the last one you met, not the violent first one).

4. Your responses on this survey are anonymous, however, if you would like me to respond to your comments or have a question, please leave your name and email address here.

This survey of client satisfaction is ongoing because my learning never ends, and I am very grateful for all of you who gave me feedback. I hope to implement many of your suggestions for improvement, and at the same time I am basking in the glow of your appreciations for my work.
